    Special features saving rate:
    When playing a DVD movie copied by "Movie complete copy", if you found the picture of special features is coarse, you could increase the saving rate properly to get a better picture effect. But higher saving rate needs larger saving space, and finally makes the quality of the main movie reduced. The default is 45%.

    Enable Smart Analyzer before reading the disc:
    To crack the latest DVD encryption, DVD-Cloner needs to scan the disc before reading data to decide which data need to be read. The default is in the chosen state.

    Enable Windows CD/DVD auto-play function:
    To decode some specially encrypted DVDs, DVD-Cloner has to close the automatic play function of the DVD drive. When it needs to close it, a prompt will appear. You can resume or close the automatic play function manually. Please note that this option will come into effect only after rebooting your computer.

    Add a menu in the customized copy mode:
    If this option is selected, a movie menu will be added to the copied DVD movie. The default is in the chosen state.

    BD-25 disc size:
    Define the size of your target BD-R/RE disc, which will be used when compressing a Blu-ray movie.

    Set the encoding speed:
    Adjust the speed of the encoding process. If you set it to "Super high", it will read fast but occupy a lot of system resource. If you set it to "Low", it will read slowly but occupy a relatively smaller system resource.

    Use direct I/O to access the Blu-ray drive:
    Enabling this option will increase the reading speed. However, please turn off this option when running third-party DVD cracking software in the background.

    Convert the HD AC3, DTS audio to a normal format:
    Select whether to convert the HD AC3, DTS audio to a normal format to save your valuable disc space.

    Enable encoding H.264 with HST:

    Select to turn on HST™ to encode at high speed. You can click on "Check" to learn about the checking result.

  • FAQ

    About HST

    What is HST?

    HST™ (H.264 Speedup Tech) is a hard-coded H.264 technology. It uses CPU decoding and GPU encoding, which greatly improved the H.264 compression speed. It works together with the GPU, and a discrete graphics card is needed.

    Which GPUs can HST work with?

    * NVIDIA CUDA
    * AMD Video Transcoding
    * Intel Quick Sync Video

    How to enable HST?

    Please enable the option "Enable encoding H.264 with HST" in "Setup" - "Blu-ray". You can also click "Check" to see whether your system supports HST.

    I have installed NVIDIA/AMD graphics card, why cannot I open HST?

    You need to install a graphics card as well as its corresponding driver. For NVIDIA graphics cards, please select a driver that supports CUDA, and drivers provided by Microsoft do not support HST. In addition, early graphics cards do not support GPU acceleration, so please make sure that the card is produced after 2015.

    About MKV

    Why seeking the ripped MKV files failed under AMD GPU acceleration sometimes?

    It is because the data units compressed by AMD GPU lack necessary information. This is caused by a defect in AMD. In this case, you are recommended to close the HST function.

    Why does the ripped MKV file exceed 3GB when I set the output size to 3GB?

    In the process of ripping a Blu-ray movie, if you select to keep HD audio, the output size will generally become much larger. HD audio tracks occupy a lot of space, so you are recommended to convert HD audio into normal formats to save space.

    How long does it take DVD-Cloner to rip a Blu-ray movie?

    It takes about 1 hour to rip a Blu-ray movie with H.264 or H.265 encoding, while it takes about 40 minutes to rip a Blu-ray movie without re-encoding.

    Can DVD-Cloner rip a DVD movie to MKV format in 720p?

    Yes. Please select your desired option in "Setup" – "MKV".

    About Blu-ray copy

    Which Blu-ray copy protections can be removed by DVD-Cloner?

    Currently, DVD-Cloner can remove Blu-ray copy protections including AACS, BD+, UOPs and Cinavia.

    Why is Internet needed when DVD-Cloner is removing protections?

    The core data of removing Blu-ray protections are stored in the server. Internet is needed to download necessary data in the process of copying. 1KB data will be downloaded for cracking AACS, about 1.5MB for BD+ and 1GB for Cinavia.

    Can the Cinavia protection be removed by DVD-Cloner?

    It has been proved that some but not all Blu-ray discs with Cinavia protection can be decrypted. We need to test Blu-ray discs one by one. When new Blu-ray discs with Cinavia protection can be decrypted, we will upload the core data to the server for users to apply directly, no need to upgrade the software.
    Note: Currently, you can decrypt and back up a Blu-ray movie with Cinavia protection to a BD-R only under the movie-only copy mode.

    Why is there a prompt "DVD-Cloner couldn't decrypt this Blu-ray movie now…"?

    Some Blu-ray movies, due to the upgrade of AACS MKB version, cannot be decrypted temporarily. We need to upgrade the background database for cracking them, please wait for a few days and then try again.
